Good luck Cheechoo train

So Jonathan Cheecoo is returning to the Worcester Sharks on a tryout. Hopefully he will impress there and somehow earn time with the big Sharks in San Jose because Cheech always was a fan favorite and it would be most excellent to see him dressed in teal again. That is, of course, if he can be effective and isn’t hobbled too much by injuries and a general lack of confidence.

As much as I would like for him to return to SJ, I don’t think it will happen, even if he blows up like a madman in the minors. Why? Well because the Sharks have an abundance of forwards, all of them younger than the Train, and San Jose did not sign Owen Nolan earlier this year. Nolan was another fan favorite and would have provided, in my mind anyway, Modano type leadership and skills on a third or fourth line. But he is old, and as I said, the Sharks have a lot of young forwards right now that play well and are still getting better.

Still, one can dream. And remember this:

I agree, but it doesn’t mean we can’t see him in San Jose from time to time – maybe a game or two here or there.
